About D&J Installatietechniek
How many homes have they completed together? Project manager Sam Kok doesn’t have the exact figures, but it’s more than 2,500. The companies have been working together for over fifteen years. “Longer than I’ve been working here,” he says with a smile.
D&J Installatietechniek was founded in 1994 and employs around 30 staff working from Weert. The company designs and installs sustainable systems for new-build and renovation projects in the southern Netherlands, on behalf of contractors, property developers, hotel chains and housing associations.
D&J’s strength lies in its wide range of expertise. The company carries out complete installation projects with a focus on heat pumps, heating, control systems and gas, water and plumbing work, supplemented by zinc work and rainwater drainage. As part of the Etri Installatiegroep, D&J also has access to an even wider network of expertise and specialists.
Our partnership in the spotlight
The partnership with Interduct was formed because D&J aims to position itself as a full-service contractor, taking the pressure off contractors and clients. “We consult with one another, resolve any issues and present a joint proposal,” explains Sam. “This reduces the workload for the contractor and makes us a more attractive option.”
This partnership focuses primarily on residential construction. The companies complement each other well in this area. Collaboration is also essential these days. “Nowadays, you can no longer build without everything being fully prepared in advance,” says Sam. “Otherwise, you’ll incur losses – in terms of time, materials and planning. And consequently, financially too.”

Coordination and implementation
For example, it is essential to discuss layout drawings. “Storage rooms and technical spaces in homes remain small, whilst the systems – both heat pumps and heat recovery units – are becoming increasingly larger and more complex. Complying with technical requirements and regulations also requires coordination. We work together to find solutions, both within the available budget and within the physical spaces themselves.”
D&J and Interduct work together in construction teams when requested by the client, but also collaborate on cost estimates for tenders and quotation processes. “Sometimes the concept has already been largely worked out by a consultant, but often we have our own input to make the plan simpler and, in many cases, cheaper.”

The strength of partnership
For Sam, the strength of the partnership lies in a number of factors. “We know each other and stick to our agreements. Quotations, procurement, work planning and execution: it’s all well coordinated. And we’re committed to quality.”
Because the two companies have been working together for so long, various colleagues know each other well. And you can tell. “We have a friendly and good-humoured working relationship. Enjoying your work is important, and that’s exactly what we experience.”
The pride lies in the ever-larger projects they manage to pull off together without a hitch. “Such as 170 apartments in Veldhoven and 198 apartments in Utrecht. Projects where you have to stay on your toes, where there are many third parties involved and you have to stick strictly to the schedule. If you drop the ball, it has consequences for the entire construction site.”

A look into the future
As far as Sam is concerned, D&J Installatietechniek will continue this partnership for a long time to come. “In this ever-changing market, you have to be incredibly strong. Strong together, with a reliable partner you can count on. One where you don’t have to keep trying to figure out where they stand on every issue. That’s worth a lot. You need to be able to move forward and kick into high gear.”
